  Description: Intense frustration with managed care has led many practitioners to withdraw from the system. The speakers on this program discuss how to "manage" managed care. David Tennenbaum "New Trends" discusses the cornerstone of accreditation requirements for HMOs and defines "quality care" in managed care terms. Mental health providers need to learn how to improve patient satisfaction with providers and to recognize that we are like all other providers in the managed care system. Kathleen Desgranges, MSW, BCD, "Cooperative relationships with Managed Care" According to Ms. Desgranges, whose small clinic receives the highest ratings from managed care, providers who are helpless in the face of managed care need to take a collegial approach to managed care, and in this interview, she discusses how to develop a good reputation and good relationships with managed care companies.
