  Description: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) refers to a spectrum of permanent birth defects including growth deficiencies, abnormal facial features, central nervous system abnormalities, behavioral disorders, and impaired intellectual development. FASD is caused by alcohol consumption during pregnancy and is 100% preventable. This course will provide an overview of FASD terminology, facts and statistics, the effects of alcohol on the developing fetus, diagnostic criteria, symptoms and challenges through the lifespan, related secondary disabilities, and methods for prevention and treatment.
