• Identify the purpose of advance directives, both medical and psychiatric
• Identify the basic contents of a behavioral health or psychiatric advance directive
• Identify how a crisis plan differs from an advance directive
• Identify the potential benefits of a behavioral health or psychiatric advance directive
• Identify kinds of assistance consumers may need in developing a psychiatric advance directive
Description:
This course provides an introduction to behavioral health or psychiatric advance directives. Participants will learn what behavioral health advance directives are, what information is contained in them, what factors support their completion by mental health consumers and their use by healthcare providers and important considerations in assisting consumers in completing and implementing them.
