  Objectives: At the completion of this program, participants should be able to: • Identify the three current evidence-based practices for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder in youth. • Know the risk associated with antidepressant use in youth as identified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as well as the limitations of the study conducted by the FDA which led to the Black Box Warning • Identify the specific adaptations made to IPT and CBT for use with younger populations • Know the implications of the TADS and TORDIA Study for treatment of youth with Major Depressive Disorder • Understand the importance of taking multicultural factors, individual client variables, and knowledge of Evidence Based Practices into consideration while treatment planning
  Description: This course reviews the treatment option portion of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s Practice Parameter for Depressive Disorders among Children and Adolescents, as well as more recent research on the current Evidence Based Practices identified for the treatment of youth with Major Depressive Disorder.
