Description:
There are many pathways to addiction recovery. One pathway can be Medication Assisted Recovery—the use of medication, as prescribed and overseen by a physician knowledgeable about addiction care, to support recovery from a substance use disorder. While there is a fair amount of controversy regarding the use of medications to assist in recovery, with some viewing the use of a medication to gain abstinence as “just substituting one drug for another” drug. However, there is sufficient research to dispel some of the myths, misconceptions and stigma that surround this form of treatment. This course will provide the participants with information on the current research and concepts of medically assisted treatment.
