• Describe the four types of domestic violence
• Identify the long term effects of domestic violence on the adult and child
• Explain prevention tools which a client can use
Description:
Domestic violence is a pattern of coercive and controlling behaviors within a relationship. Domestic violence can happen to anyone, in any type of relationship whether it be between a male and a female, a same sex couple, an elderly couple, or a parent and a child. Violence also doesn’t discriminate based on age, race, culture, religion, where someone lives or how much money a person makes. This course will review risk factors for domestic violence as defined by the CDC, the types of domestic violence (emotional/psychological, physical, sexual, and economic), the long term effects of abuse, and prevention tools available.
