  Objectives: After completion of this course, you should be able to: • Define Alzheimer’s Disease • Identify its prevalence, diagnosis/presentation, symptoms, causes, effects on the brain, and progression • Recall the changes in the brain related to AD • Comprehend the psychological consequences and the behavioral impact of AD • Demonstrate care for those affected by AD • Prepare caregivers in their efforts to manage the behavioral consequences of AD
  Description: This course will present an overview of what we know about Alzheimer’s disease, including its effect on the brain, potential causes of the disease and a discussion of the typical course of progression. We will also focus on the challenges for behavioral health providers who care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, and so will focus on management of the behavioral manifestations of the disease.
