  Objectives: At the completion of this program, participants should be able to: • Describe demographics related to mental health and aging • Be familiar with the findings of the Surgeon General’s report on the subject • List barriers to mental health care for elders • Describe specific strategies for addressing those barriers.
  Description: The course provides an overview of the mental health needs of older adults and the barriers to meeting those needs. We explore strategies for meeting the challenges of providing mental health services to elders and discuss some key concepts underlying best practices in mental health care for older adults.
