  Objectives: At the completion of this course, participants should be able to: • Describe the theoretical explanations for efficacy or “how the techniques” work • Identify at least three critical aspects of the structure (therapeutic strategies used in) of these two evidence-based practices. • Identify at least two of the areas of controversy surrounding EMDR. • Define how the fidelity of practice is measured.
  Description: Certain evidence-based practices for treating individuals, adults and children, with trauma-related symptoms and/or PTSD have been identified and have been found to produce reliable improvements in symptomatology as well as in various aspects of quality of life. In this Part 2 of a two-part series, we examine two evidence-based practices for working with people with PTSD – Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
