  Objectives: After completing this course, participants should be able to: • Understand the concepts of ethics and how they are developed • Develop their own definition of ethics and profession • Name and describe ethical principles • Identify and discuss the specific issues most frequently resulting in misconduct • Describe the unique nature of the counselor-client relationship • Outline the avenues available to deal with unethical behavior
  Description: Often it is assumed that ethics are innate rather than learned. While everyone has values and personal beliefs, maintaining professional and ethical boundaries is not inherent. This course will present ethical standards and principles for addictions counseling in order for participants to determine their boundaries and understand the concept of misconduct and prevention.
