  Objectives: At the completion of this course, participants will be able to: • Identify some of the characteristics of war, deployment and the war zone experience that are stressors • Identify the characteristics of the multi-phase model of traumatic stress response • Differentiate between the diagnostic criteria for PTSD and ASD • Specify the evidence-based treatments for PTSD recommended by the military
  Description: This course provides a brief and general introduction to PTSD in veterans, especially those of the more recent U.S. wars, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). Information for this course comes primarily from the Iraq War Clinician Guide, an excellent source of guidance for civilian (and military) clinicians working with veterans from those and other more recent wars.
