Description:
Barriers to transportation, public accommodations, public services, and telecommunications have imposed staggering economic and social costs on American society and historically undermined well-intentioned efforts to educate, rehabilitate, and employ individuals with disabilities. Title I of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is an anti-discrimination statute created to guarantee equal access to employment opportunities and benefits for qualified candidates, enacted in 1990. It ensures that individuals with a disability are afforded the same chance to be gainfully employed, live independently and be economically self-sufficient as any other American. Title V contains miscellaneous provisions which apply to EEOC's enforcement of Title I.
