Training Title:
Emerging Adulthood, Part A Overview

Clock Hours: 1

Objectives:
At the completion of this program, participants should be able to: • Distinguish the difference between young adulthood and emerging adults • Describe non-traditional ways to think about issues associated with the transition from late adolescence into adulthood.

Description:
How does a child become an adult? What propels development from late adolescence to adulthood? In this program, we explore “becoming.” Jeffrey Arnett gives us an overview about what he has termed the stage of “Emerging Adulthood.” Sociologists define the “transition to adulthood” as marked by five milestones: completing school; leaving home; becoming financially independent; marrying; and having a child. Dr. Arnett presents an overview to the subject of Emerging Adulthood, a term he devised.
