Objectives:
After completing this course, participants should be able to: • Define bullying. • State the core elements that define bullying. • List the modes and types of bullying. • Describe characteristics of youth who bully others, youth who are bullied, and bystanders. • Give examples of the short- and long-term effects of bullying. • Review appropriate strategies for youth involved with bullying.

Description:
This course is intended for professionals working with youth. The course reviews modes and types of bullying. Sections review the child who bullies others, children who are bullied, and bystanders – looking at characteristics of these youth, best options for overcoming the bullying behavior, and treatment suggestions. Non effective treatment strategies are also covered. The last section of these materials is for people who provide mental health treatment directly to the youth. Cyberbullying is also a significant topic. Rather than expand this course, myLearningPointe provides a separate course on Cyberbullying.
