Objectives: At the completion of this program, participants should be able to:
• Assess the impact of child welfare involvement on the AOD patients
• Demonstrate knowledge of Adoption, Safe Families Act (ASFA) and the impact on treatment and aftercare planning
• Demonstrate an understanding of the role of Child Welfare professionals as partners in the patient’s recovery
• Demonstrate advocacy skills
• Establish collaborative relationships with Child Welfare Agencies
• Coach patients in developing a healthy balance with recovery and family issues
Description: This course was designed for addictions professionals in their work with clients coexisting in the child welfare system. This is an integral step towards the national drive for improved collaboration between various service providers.
